| Representing one block of the John Buck Company’s massive 9-block North Bridge development on Chicago’s
“Magnificent Mile,” 520 North Michigan Avenue is an adaptive re-use of a land-marked, 14-story, Art Deco office building that
now includes a hotel, retail, and restaurant uses. Preserved in part, the original, restored limestone façade is reattached
to a new steel structure that accommodates the demands of the new building program. Bracketed by two, multi-story atria that
create grand entries while bridging over public streets below, the structure houses a curving, 4-story, arcade that accesses
specialty retail shops and connects shoppers to a Nordstrom department store one block away. |
